DWI/DUI
NYS DUI/ DWI (Driving Under the Influence/Driving While Intoxicated) Assessment Services
If you are arrested and charged with a DUI/DWI in New York State, the court may require you to complete a mandatory DUI/DWI assessment or evaluation for court-ordered alcohol or drug treatment. This requirement is separate from the state’s Drinking Driver Program (DDP).
These assessments are designed to determine the nature and extent of an individual’s alcohol or drug use. Under Criminal Procedure Law § 216.05(1), the court may order an evaluation to assess whether a person has a history of substance use or meets criteria for dependency on alcohol or controlled substances.
As a certified provider with the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), we are fully authorized to conduct DUI/DWI assessments. OASAS certifies and oversees all evaluators and treatment programs to ensure compliance with state standards.
If you have been directed to complete an assessment, it is important to schedule and complete it within the timeframe ordered by the court to remain in good standing with your legal obligations.
